A pneumatic trailer (aka “dry bulk tank trailer”) is basically a metal cylinder with a series of conical hoppers. The hoppers are topped with a series of openings for loading dry bulk, usually from a silo. Each hopper trailer has a valve at the bottom that connects to a pipe. The valves are closed during transport; when it is time to unload, they can be opened to allow powdered material to flow out of the hopper into the pipeline.
